Brown Chinese Geese
Our
Brown Chinese Geese
Our Brown Chinese flock consists of: Our gander Dog, and his ladies Stella, Sunny, Violet, Indigo, and Emerald. Each has a unique personality and is so fun to be around. Farmer Jo hand-raised our girls in 2021 and they are all bonded to us. Our Gander Dog was purchased from a farm in the Okanagan in 2021. Geese imprint very well as babies and will love their people forever. Brown Chinese geese have a life expectancy of 15-20 years, but some have even lived longer. This breed is listed on the endangered list in Canada.
Chinese geese are often referred to as 'weeder' geese for their amazing ability to forage and weed. They won't tear up your garden and are light on the feed bill. They are also the smallest of all domestic breeds making them easy keepers. These geese prefer pastures over commercial feed any day.
Chinese Geese are also referred to as "swan" geese because of their beautiful long, slender necks. They make beautiful lawnmowers!
If you haven't already caught on, these geese are a huge part of our homestead. Without them, none of our flocks would be safe! They have kept our flocks safe from crows, ravens, hawks, and foxes. Adding geese to your homestead is a long-term commitment, but one we doubt you'll regret! Take a scroll to see pictures of our goose flock and their eggs and goslings. A link to our YouTube playlist is provided below, which has videos of our geese and why they are important, incubating goose eggs, raising goslings, and care tips. Prices are also listed at the bottom of this page.
